Writing Talent Search

 

Not sure if you’re old enough for the Writing Talent Search?

Consider these facts:

• Most HEROES members are between the ages of 11 and 15.

• Eighty percent of HEROES members attend traditional public or private schools.

• Last summer Rutgers awarded High School Summer Scholars Scholarships to over two dozen HEROES members as young as 10 years old.

• HEROES members as young as 12 years old have successfully completed 355:101 Expository Writing.

Age alone should NOT be the determining factor

 

You should consider entering the Writing Talent Search if

• You would like to test the limits of your writing skills.

• You would like your writing evaluated by a college instructor who will provide you with recommendations on how to improve.

• You would like to have an annual evaluation of your writing so that you can measure your improvement each year.

You should NOT enter the Writing Talent Search if

• Your current writing assignments provide you with sufficient challenges.

• You are not interested in experimenting with a new style of writing.
